We are talking about support for New York veterans this weekend on In Focus.
Ahead of Veterans Day, Nov. 11, JoDee Kenney sat down with Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich, whose father was wounded twice in combat in World War II. Reilich said, growing up, he learned how these sacrifices made during military service continue after discharge. Reilich is also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, an organization that provides connections to family members of those who served and works to support veterans themselves.
Reilich said the Gary Beikirch Veterans' Memorial Wall, named for a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, pays tribute to some 5,000 servicemembers from the Town of Greece, including many who made the ultimate sacrifice. Reilich also encouraged everyone to find a way to serve, whether becoming politically active or volunteering in their community.
