Ahead of Veterans Day, Nov. 11, our In Focus conversation centers on support and services for New Yorkers who served our country in the military.
JoDee Kenney welcomed in Retired Army Lt. Col. Diane GreenPope, grand marshal of this year’s CNY Veterans Parade and Expo, being held at the New York State Fairgrounds Saturday, Nov. 9. Growing up in a military family, GreenPope spoke about what the values that instilled in her and her decision to begin what would be a 20-year Army career, herself.
GreenPope said her service didn’t end at discharge, as she continues to volunteer for a variety of veteran support groups and building bonds with others who served. In addition to a day to recognize veterans, GreenPope said the parade and expo provides on-the-ground outreach and education on a variety of organizations, programs, and benefits available.
