Our In Focus conversation this weekend explores the issues facing voters this election year.

JoDee Kenney welcomes Athena Fliakos, YWCA of Ulster County CEO, whose mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice and dignity to all. Fliakos said the 215 chapters, nationwide, and 19 across New York state are working to advance racial and civil rights, economic empowerment, and the health and safety of all women. In Ulster County, Fliakos said the YWCA’s early childhood education program for children 5 years old and younger also allows mothers to remain in the workforce. This, Fliakos said, is just one way the YWCA provides support for all families, at all levels, on top of crisis intervention and education programs. As the YWCA continues its work to advocate for and assist women in exercising their right to vote, Fliakos encouraged women to have a voting plan to ensure they have the opportunity to make their voices heard.
