As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on In Focus, JoDee Kenney was joined by Rochester City Council President Miguel Meléndez. Growing up in Rochester as the son of immigrants from Puerto Rico, Meléndez said the Rochester area has the largest Hispanic population in the state, outside of New York City, and in addition to serving on the council, his work on the Ibero-American Action League is ensuring a brighter future for New Americans in the city. Meléndez encouraged anyone looking to get involved in their community to find volunteer opportunities and an organization that aligns with your passion.

You can watch the full interview with Meléndez in the video player above. And be sure to tune in for a look inside the biggest issues impacting upstate New York on In Focus with JoDee Kenney every Sunday on Spectrum News 1.
