Supporting pet owners and protecting pets across New York is the topic this weekend on In Focus. JoDee Kenney sat down with Caitlin Davis, vice president for community operations at the Hudson Mohawk Humane Society, who brought along Jaxon, a 6-year-old pit bull who is up for adoption.

In addition to caring for shelter animals, Davis said Mohawk Hudson offers a host of programs to assist pet owners, from a pet food pantry to veterinary services and training. Education and outreach, Davis said, can often prevent neglect and animal cruelty, as well as offer guidance for people who need to re-home their pets. In addition to adopting one of the many cats or dogs at the shelter, Davis encouraged people to volunteer or donate to support animal care at Mohawk Hudson.
