This weekend on In Focus, we’re talking about the impact of local and county fairs across upstate New York. Marisa Jacques, filling in for JoDee Kenney, was joined by Wayne County Board of Supervisors Chair Tony Verno ahead of the opening of the Wayne County Fair, which runs from Aug. 12 – 17. This year’s fair theme is “Blue Jeans & Country Dreams,” and Verno discussed how it takes an entire year of planning and preparation to open the gates for this one week in August. For the estimated 32,000 visitors, there will be plenty to see, do and eat, Verno said, with music on multiple stages, performances, and demonstrations each day. Also on display, animals and produce from members of the region’s agricultural community, and a variety from crafts from area artisans.
The Wayne County Fair will be held at the Fairgrounds on West Jackson Street in Palmyra.
