This weekend on In Focus, we host a conversation on New York state’s 2024 Legislative session. JoDee Kenney talks with Jack O’Donnell, managing partner at O’Donnell & Associates, for perspective and analysis of some of the issues dominating negotiations at the State Capitol. Among them is the bipartisan SAFE For Kids Act that O’Donnell said provides even more stringent social media safeguards for young people than at the federal level. On Gov. Kathy Hochul’s last-minute decision to halt the enactment of congestion pricing in New York City, O’Donnell said it was a tough call to make on a divided issue, but other methods to increase revenue like the tracking of short-term rentals saw less-heated negotiations. O’Donnell said moving forward, the governor and legislature will have to address New Yorkers’ growing concerns over inflation and a rising cost of living.
