We are talking about mental health and substance use disorder treatment this weekend on In Focus. JoDee Kenney talked with Katie Burbee, the director of Clinical Program Development at Horizon Health Services. The Western New York organization provides both mental health and substance addiction treatment on-site, in schools and through telehealth services. Burbee says Horizon Health provides integrated care for patients with both mental health and substance use disorders, connecting them with counseling, psychiatric care, and medically assisted treatment options. Rural areas are seeing an increase in mental health and substance abuse, and Burbee said Horizon Health telehealth services can overcome transportation issues and outreach can reduce the stigma associated with addiction. For people who may be struggling with mental health or substance use disorders, Burbee urges them to reach out to a provider in their area or call the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
