Parents have a lot on their plates — and winter colds and the flu are bringing added stress over their kid's health. Many grocery store and pharmacy aisles for children's over-the-counter medications are cleared out amid a broader drug shortage, and this week on In Focus, we take a look at how parents can keep their families healthy though it all. JoDee Kenney sits down with Dr. Rebekka Levis, Associate Chief of General Pediatrics at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital to discuss the situation. Dr. Levis discusses the way she’s seen the shortages impacting patients, from the age groups that are most affected to the medications that are in shortest supply. She also shares her advice for parents, saying that those who are concerned about whether they will be able to access medication for their kids should always bring their concerns to their child’s doctor, regardless of whether the medication in question is prescription or over-the-counter.
