This week, In Focus focuses on Mother Earth — keeping the environment safe, and keeping ourselves safe in the process. New York State Assemblymember Dr. Anna Kelles joins the show to talk about environmental wins and losses in the state legislature this year, as well as her efforts backing legislation that would create a moratorium on cryptocurrency mining, to try and curb the harmful environmental effects of the process. She discusses the need for more investment in clean water infrastructure, and the impact that climate change has been having on New Yorkers who rely on the earth for their livelihood, like farmers. Kelles also talks about the consequences of climate change for the states, including increases in harmful algal blooms.
