It was a much different tone at this year's Columbus Day ceremony in Syracuse.
It was just last Friday when Mayor Ben Walsh announced that the city's Christopher Columbus statue will come down, and the fountain and obelisk that will remain will be renamed.
Monday was also perhaps the final wreath laying in what is now known as Columbus Circle, a regular event attended by Syracuse city leaders and community members.
The mayor's decision was made with input from a committee of various stakeholders.
But many were unhappy with the process, and weren't afraid to voice their concerns, especially as the decision came just before the Columbus Day holiday.
There's no date set for when the statue will be removed. Walsh is planning to appoint a commission to oversee changes to the circle, including the name of the site.
