Even without the annual apple festival, one Lafayette church was making sure people get their fix.

Cars lined up at St. Joseph's Church in the village for some delicious pies.

Every year church members bake them as a fundraiser for the festival.

But with the pandemic canceling the tradition, parishioners had to get creative.

"We're careful baking the pies," said Dale Nagel of St. Joseph's Church in Lafayette. "We separated, spreading out into the vestibule area. Here, of course everybody is masked up, gloves and social distancing as much as possible."

1,200 pies were sold out in just a few hours. That's half of what the church usually bakes for the festival.
