A hot day brings visitors to Sylvan Beach, despite it being pronounced closed by the Sylvan Beach Tourism Page.

It’s the time of the year where people usually pack the beach.

What You Need To Know

  • The Sylvan Beach Tourism Page said Sylvan Beach is closed, yet people went anyway
  • There is no swimming allowed until further notice
  • The amusement park remains closed

However, with COVID-19, there are still plenty of people, but they are now spaced out as they lay on the beach.

“This is the beach that I know not a lot of people here, and it’s less dangerous,” said Thurston Jones who was ready to swim at that very same beach.

Others that are visiting the beach are swimming as well, and no law enforcement or officials were stopping them.

Stores around the beach said they are just as busy, if not busier, since everyone is just happy to be out and about finally after months of lockdown.

“Honestly we have had a better summer this summer than in the past summers," said Kendra Igoe, who works at a store nearby. "People should still come out to the beach even though everyone is saying everything about it."

The beach will remain closed until further notice.
