College students may be finishing up their semesters at home, but some at SUNY Oswego got a nice surprise in their final class.
Spectrum News Meteorologist Vanessa Richards teaches a broadcast meteorology class at Oswego, and Thursday she got one of the university’s most famous alums to join her for a final zoom meeting.
Al Roker, of NBC's "The Today Show," spoke with students Thursday, talking about what it’s like to forecast in the middle of the pandemic.
Roker even talked about what else he's doing with his extra time at home.
"It just came today. I'm going to try and learn the ukulele," Roker said. "Try something different, something new, learn a language... do something."
Last fall, Richards co-taught a meteorology class with Roker and Michael Riecke, an assitant professor of communications at SUNY Oswego. The class visited Al Roker at NBC Studios in New York City.
