The Mohawk Valley came together Saturday evening to honor the life of Bianca Devins, who was killed last July in Utica.
Her killer, Brandon Clark, pleaded guilty to her murder Monday.
"This community of Utica, the Mohawk Valley, Greater New York, has been so supportive of our family. They've made this journey we've had to go down just that easier to bare by their love, their support and their prayers,” said Frank Williams, Devins’ grandfather.
The Bee Gala offered an opportunity to keep positive memories of Bianca alive, including some of her artwork.
There was also a fashion show, something she was passionate about.
"I am celebrating something that I love doing, and something she also loved doing. So to be here and do that in her memory, it means a lot to her family, it means a lot to others who knew her, and people who have positive memories of her,” said Alexis Reed, a friend of Devins.
All proceeds generated from the event will benefit the Bianca Michelle Devins Memorial Scholarship Fund.
"It will be awarded this coming year, and every year after, to a student attending Utica College in their psychology child life development program,” Williams said. “Bianca wanted to be a psychologist. She wanted to take what she had learned from her own mental health issues, and work to help other teenagers."
"I'm happy to be a part of this, celebrating happiness, positivity, and also a memory of a beautiful girl that I was fortunate enough to get to know,” said Reed.
