A great way to get in the holiday spirit over the next several weeks is to take a drive through a holiday lights display.

There are several large displays around New York — including one that opens Monday night in the Syracuse area.

Lights on the Lake, which includes two miles of massive displays, opens Monday night in Onondaga Lake Park. It’ll be open through Jan. 12, and tickets can be bought online to reserve a spot. The proceeds from admission for the first few nights will benefit local charities.

There are other displays to check out, too. Beginning Nov. 24, the ROC Lights at Victor Hills in the Rochester Area will be on display, and The Fairgrounds Festival of Lights will open in Hamburg the same night.

"It's also about making memories and spending time together with your loved ones. And we just love the fact that we're putting on this great, safe, family-friendly event that allows people to come together and enjoy each other's time and maybe just take a few minutes of your day to slow down and really enjoy the scenery," said Galaxy Media Chief Operating Officer Carrie Wojtaszek.

The Albany Police Athletic League wasn't able to find a location for the Capital Holiday Lights this year but hopes to bring them back next year. Peace Love and Lights opens Nov. 24 in Bethel Woods in the Catskills, providing another option for viewing.
