Syracuse University is now postponing commencement due to COVID-19.

The 2021 commencement ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 23.

The change reflects the two-week delay to the spring semester, which is scheduled to begin on February 8.

The university says state guidelines will ultimately determine whether or not a commencement ceremony will be able to happen in person.

There's a chance the celebration may be virtual.

A decision on that will come no later than April 1.
