When legislation about sex work advances in New York, people are quick to assume it's about decriminalization, or will bring New York closer to that. But a proposal known as the sex worker immunity bill has bipartisan support and nothing to do with decriminalizing sex work, but rather protecting sex workers from going to jail for reporting a crime. Also, New York State’s Returnable Container Act was last expanded in 2009, and because it has been effective at increasing recycling rates, advocates want to update the law.
