Across New York state, there are organizations that work to protect our ecosystem from the impacts of human development, both for our benefit, and the benefit of the wildlife we share our space with.

The Central New York Land Trust is celebrating its 50th year, and they are working to prevent harmful erosion on the banks of Skaneateles Lake, where there is a risk of excess sediment and nutrients, and runoff damaging the lake’s drinking water, and constructing blue bird nesting boxes on the site to protect local species.

The CNY Land Trust says they are also gearing up for their biggest event of their 50th year is their Walk for Nature on Earth Day at Green Lakes State Park, anodyne interested in volunteering or working with the organization is encouraged to reach out. You can do that by visiting their website.
