A Herkimer County man accused of posing as his teenage daughter's boyfriend online, pleaded guilty Tuesday to sex abuse charges.

Time Warner Cable News is not identifying the man in order to protect the victim's identity.

The man, posing as his daughter's boyfriend, allegedly asked her to send him explicit pictures. He was also accused of sexually assaulted her.

The defendant pleaded guilty to four-charges including a second-degree criminal sex act, sex abuse in the third-degree and two-counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

His attorney hopes the judge will consider how the defendant responded to his charges.

"[He] is accepting responsibility for his actions and willing to take responsibilty and pay the price for that. And, considering the fact that, you know, alleviating the county and the victim from having to have a trial," said Nicholas Passalacqua.

"Well I hope the judge, after he reviews the pre-sentence investigation and all of the statements that will be made at the time of sentencing by my office, potentially the victim, potentially the defendent, that he imposes the maximum sentence," said Herkimer County District Attorney Jeffrey Carpenter.

The defendent is facing a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and 10 years of post-release supervision.
