One man was injured in a Wednesday morning house fire in Syracuse but firefighters said he is expected to recover.

A man and his dog were inside the structure on West Kennedy Street when, around 10:30 a.m., a fire started, spreading from the first floor to the second and up to the attic.

Firefighters said the man suffered burns to his legs, and could not initially speak to the whereabouts of the dog.

The structure is uninhabitable, and firefighters said it may be a total loss.
