A former Syracuse University football player has been arrested as part of a federal drug sweep.

Marcus Sales, 29, is accused of conspiring to possess cocaine with the intent to distribute. The former Orange wide receiver was arrested with 14 others in an investigation revolving around the sale and conspiracy to distribute crack, cocaine, and fentanyl.

According to documents filed in federal court, Sales is accused of being in possession of 500 grams of a substance with detectable cocaine.

The 15 arrested were arraigned in federal court Wednesday.

Sales was a local star at Christian Brothers Academy before playing at Syracuse.
