Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon said Tuesday that the county continues to move in the right direction as far as COVID-19 numbers and vaccinations go, and will review emergency orders on Monday that were put in place at the outset of the pandemic over a year ago.

He expects to get rid of the majority of them.

"We need to move forward, to continue to vaccinate, to continue to now address the other public health issues at hand," McMahon said Tuesday. "Whether it's mental health, whether it's opioids, whether it's suicide, whether it's food insecurity. Because these are all areas where all of our infrastructure as a community has gone into COVID and now we need to rebalance that infrastructure."

McMahon also expects to announce details on another round of incentive restaurant vouchers soon for those who get vaccinated.

There were only five new cases in the community reported in the last 24 hours. That's the lowest it has been in months, possibly going back to last summer. There were also no new deaths reported.

As for vaccinations, second shots are underway for 12-to-15-year-olds.

The weekly clinic at the Oncenter will start on June 22.
