As another holiday approaches, the Cayuga County Health Department is releasing details of what they call a "superspreader" event traced back to a Halloween party.

They say one person who was experiencing symptoms they didn't associate with COVID-19 attended a party with a large number of people.

They later tested positive, leading 21 people to be quarantined.

Eight of those people also became infected with COVID-19.

But because they were quarantined, they didn't infect anyone else.

The health department is using this incident as an example of how important it is to quarantine.

Overall, 13 people became sick because of the Halloween gathering.
