A partnership between the city of Binghamton and United Health Services brings same-day COVID-19 testing to the Southern Tier.
Binghamton Mayor Rich David is working with UHS to use two workstations from Rheonix Incorporated in Ithaca.
Between the work stations, UHS will be able to complete up to 200 tests per day, and 1,400 per week. The workstations will cost more than $50,000 and much of that will be refunded by the federal CARES act.
"Anytime you can add up to 200 tests a day is certainly going to give us some breathing room,” said Broome County Executve Jason Garnar. “So we certainly appreciate the effort that was made in that regard."
Starting Monday, the county's drop off site for PPE will change from the Oakdale mall to the emergency services warehouse in Endwell.
