This weekend, the American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure will return, the first time since COVID-19-related cancellations. It will take place in the Rochester area, but riders will be racing from across upstate.
Pat Leitgeb from Syracuse will be biking the 63-mile option and raising money for diabetes research. He has fought diabetes since 2004.
Leitgeb is a Type 2 diabetic and has been riding in the event for the last seven years. He has been in the top 10 fundraisers every year he has ridden. His fundraising goal was $5,500. So far, he’s in the top six for fundraisers, coming in at just short of $6,400 so far.
The Tour de Cure starts Saturday, with race options for adults and kids, with the shortest being 12 miles, and the longest being 100.
