The holiday season is nearly here, but sometimes getting the right dress for the occasion can be challenging. That’s why Party Princesses of CNY is making it their mission to ensure every little girl feels like a princess during these special moments, by providing free dresses, shoes and stockings to girls from new born to age 10.

“Christmas is the best time of the year and it should be magical,” Party Princesses of CNY co-founder Kim Linkous said. “It shouldn’t depend on your financial situation. There should be magic for everybody and that’s why we do what we do.”

What You Need To Know

  • Party Princesses of CNY provided free dresses, shoes and stockings to girls from newborn to age 10

  • The non-profit started last year in January, they gave away birthday dresses, tiaras and shoes to girls in need

  • Over 800 dresses were donated and purchased

Linkous has been friends with founder Kim Servello-Gardner for over 50 years. Staring Party Princesses of CNY is really full circle for Linkous.

“Never thought of ourselves as poor, but we didn’t have everything we wanted,” Linkous said. “And we would shop at the thrift store and we learned how to sew to make things fancy because we couldn’t have the fancy twirly dresses that every little girl wants.”

Linkous was a single mom for a period of time, so she understands the challenges of not being blue to give your child everything they want.

“Saying no to your kid is the hardest thing ever,” Linkous said. “By doing an event like this, we’re not just showing little girls here’s something special for you, you are special and worthy but it also empowers the moms. They’re able to give their child something they normally wouldn’t be able to.”

More than 800 dresses were donated and purchased for the event. The girls were provided with a personal shopper, given treats and were able to put their name in a raffle for prizes.

“The sparklier, the better,” Linkous said. “I like to ask them their favorite color then I go from there.”

Helping little girls pick out a sparkly dress and treating them like a princess created a bit of holiday magic that you just can’t put a price tag on.
