With Raise the Age now implemented in New York, more 16 and 17 year olds are ending up in the juvenile justice system instead of an adult prison.

One reason for that is because juvenile facilities are supposed to have more access to mental health care.

And, among other benefits, that care can help reduce recidivism.

Today, Assembly members held a hearing to see how the change is going and whether more funding is needed in the next state budget.
