Stephanie Miner was twice elected mayor of Syracuse as a Democrat, and even served as co-chair of the state party for a while.
But now, she's running for governor as an independent candidate- meaning not on a specific party's line.
That means as long as she collects enough signatures, she will be on the ballot in November.
And so far, her entrance in the race is getting a warmer welcome from Republicans than Democrats.
