The state Thruway Authority is proposing toll increases.

The authority's Chief Financial Officer Matthew Howard said it needs to make roadway removations and repairs, and traffic and toll revenue was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

"It was the largest decline that we saw of any sort in like the last 40 years. That number in 2020 was about a $125 million reduction in that year alone," he said.

He added that traffic and revenues have since bounced back.
