Week three of area high school football is the books, and it's hard to believe it, but we're nearing the halfway point of the regular season.

Each game will mean a little more with playoffs looming.

Shaker 28, Shenendehowa 14

Shaker opened a 21-0 halftime lead, but Shen never went away. The Plainsmen made it a seven-point deficit in the fourth quarter, but sophomore sensation Jake Iacobaccio sealed the game with a touchdown run with 2:30 to play.

Shaker is now 3-0 on the season.

Saratoga 35, Schenectady 18

It was close at the half, the Blue Streaks leading 14-12 but two consecutive touchdown drives opened a 27-12 lead and Saratoga never looked back.

BH-BL 24, La Salle 21

A back-and-forth affair that has the potential to be a playoff/championship preview.

BH-BL kicked the go-ahead field goal midway through the fourth quarter. La Salle had a chance to force overtime, but their attempt with less than a minute to go was wide left, sealing the Spartans' win.

Niskayuna 28, Ballston Spa 14

This game was the Dan Quinn show. Quinn accounted for 3 first half touchdowns to give the Silver Warriors the big Class A win.

Schuylerville 14, Fonda-Fultonville 7

If you enjoy defense, this was the game for you. Neither team gave an inch to the other, but an Ryan Dow's touchdown reception from Lukas Sherman late in the first half gave the Black Horses life as they held on. This was a huge battle of state-ranked squads as well in Class C.
