Many high school football fans have had this one circled on their calendars for quite some time: Shaker on the road taking on Shenendehowa.

The last time Shenendehowa beat Shaker Brent Steuerwald was the head coach.

Shen was at home and wanted to go out and prove something.  Shen was the more veteran team, but the Plainsmen had a couple costly turnovers early and Shaker capitalized.  Quickly, it was 14-0 Shaker.  Shen settled down and scored in the second quarter, but they still trailed 14-7 at the halftime break.

Coming out of the locker room Shaker Head Coach Greg Sheeler said, "I think we are playing well. I like the way we came out. We knew they wanted to establish the run game and I thought our defense played well, but we have to continue that because they are very talented."

Shenendehowa Head Coach Brian Clawson was disappointed with the turnovers, but felt like they were fine.

Shaker went right back to work in the third quarter. Sophomore Porter Ninstant had a few big runs in the game, but his run in the third quarter on their first possession of the second half was a difference maker.

Shaker scored there and ended up winning 28-14.

Ninistant had 150 yards and a touchdown. Senior Jake Notarino was a beast on both sides of the ball for Shaker.  He had three touchdowns.  The senior has been waiting for this game.  He said he grew up watching Shaker football as a little kid and he's dreamed about his senior season playing for the Blue Bison.  He showed up in this one for Shaker.

THE BIGGEST TAKEAWAY

Shaker is the real thing.  There will be other tests this season, but to go on the road to Shenendehowa, a veteran-laden team, and win the way they did says something.

THOUGHT FOR SHAKER

Keep your eye on the prize.  Head Coach Greg Sheeler said there was no worry that his team wouldn't come out ready for this game.  It's Shen and on tv, so he knew they'd be ready.  Just make sure you're ready for evey opponent.  They have a great chance to win another championship if they don't think about a championship.

THOUGHT FOR SHENENDEHOWA

Championships aren't won in week two.  They have the talent to play for a championship.  Re-focus and look ahead.
