This weekend, a number of events will be held to raise money for the victims of and first responders to the deadly Schoharie limousine crash.

A benefit concert called Healing Schoharie will be held this Sunday at Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady from noon-4 p.m. Tickets cost $10, with children 12 and younger admitted for free. All money raised goes to victims' families and first responders.

Skeeter Creek and Grand Central Station will both perform, as will three of Union College’s a cappella groups.

While the goal is to raise money for the victims’ families and first responders, the hope is it will also help in the healing process. At a press conference Friday morning, Schoharie Fire Chief Marty Pierce spoke about the importance of an event like this, saying the support from local communities has been overwhelming.

"It’s going to be in everybody’s mind for a very, very long time," Pierce said. "The healing process isn’t going to be over for quite some time, if it ever is. What the communities, not only in Schoharie but in surrounding communities, have done is just absolutely phenomenal."

Also this weekend, Rotterdam’s Little League team will be giving a donation to Scho-Wright Ambulance during Friday's game against Schoharie Little League.
