Jaclyn Cangro joined the Spectrum News Capital Region team in February, 2017. With each municipality in the region so unique and with its own interests, Jaclyn is inspired each day to make sure the stories she covers are able to connect with all.
As a dedicated reporter passionate about uncovering the truth, Jaclyn once had the opportunity to work on a half-hour documentary about a loophole in state law, which allowed private high schools to not report allegations of sexual abuse. Jaclyn spoke with survivors of sexual abuse and school administrators coming to grips with their past who trusted her to tell their stories. For Jaclyn, stories like this remind her just how great her responsibility as a journalist is. Since the release of this documentary, that loophole has been closed.
Notably, her coverage of the primary led to recognition from the Maine Association of Broadcasters, winning her and her producer third place in Election Coverage, and was the only solo reporter team to be recognized in that category.
Jaclyn is a native and proud New Yorker. She was born and raised in Eastchester, which is appropriately in Westchester County. When not on TV, Jaclyn can most likely be found cheering for the New York Mets.
