Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s hunt for a third term cost $35.5 million this year alone, according to updated campaign finance records released on Tuesday.

Cuomo spent a combined $43 million over the last four year campaign cycle since 2015, records show.

Like in 2014, Cuomo this year faced a Democratic primary challenge from his left and handily defeated actress and education advocate Cynthia Nixon. But he spent heavily to do so on TV and digital advertising that cast him as a staunch opponent of President Donald Trump.

In the general election last month, Cuomo defeated Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.

Molinaro, who began his campaign in March, spent a combined $2.4 million this year.

Cuomo has more than twice that left in his campaign account, $5 million.
