The Albany County Legislature's Audit and Finance Committee voted Monday evening to approve a five-year, $283 million Albany County Airport Authority Capital Plan for 2025 to 2029.

Two members of the committee voted against the move, citing the recent controversy with the firing of former airport CEO Phil Calderone.

The capital plan includes all of the current projects underway and any future projects in that time frame. It also notes some of the projects and estimates are dependent on future growth in passengers, cargo, general aviation and federal and state funding.

Earlier on Monday, the Albany County Airport Authority Board met.

Appearing at their first airport meeting together, Acting CEO Peter Stuto and COO John O’Donnell proposed that the airport's $100 revitalization project be broken into five phases, rather than one large unveiling of all the construction.

Phase one includes terminal upgrades, including a sensory room, children’s play area and business center; phase two involves ticket area improvements, including modernized car rental and ticket counter upgrades; phase three includes new departure hall and site improvements, including new terminal elevators and escalators, upgrades to the information desk, sheriff’s department security counters and security checkpoints for all departing traffic and new airport entrance sign and lighting; phase four is removal of the temporary queuing platform and old escalators and improved access to the north parking garage; and phase five calls for renovation of Terminal A, including two new gates with jet bridges and traveler upgrades.

A timeline for the phases will be announced soon.
