The college football season kicks off for many programs across the country Saturday and the biggest in the Capital Region is on the road to start their season.

The UAlbany Great Danes begin their 2021 campaign in Fargo, North Dakota, taking on North Dakota State University.

This will be the eight season at the helm for Head Coach Greg Gattuso.

The Great Danes are coming off a shortened spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UAlbany went 1-3 before opting out due to health and safety concerns.

Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.

The purple and gold return to Albany next Saturday for their home opener, playing in front of fans for the first time since 2019 when they take on Rhode Island at 7 p.m.
