The Ballston Spa Central School District Board of Education voted on the fate of fall sports Monday night.

They will allow low risk varsity sports to play in the fall season, including cross country, swimming, and diving. JV and lower level teams will not be permitted to play.

As for moderate risk varsity sports like soccer, the board voted against a proposal for a two week trial period before the start of classes. That trial would have started September 21 and ended October 4, a day before in-person learning begins. But the board decided that was too risky.

The school board also discussed other safety precautions, like keeping student athletes in cohorts to limit the spread. Practice for the fall season can start September 21.
