Rain or shine, Colonie Special Education teacher Rachael Mann is dedicated to making sure her students are getting the most out of class. So when she noticed one of her students was falling behind, she hopped in her car to shift gears in her teaching style.

“All the kids all learn so differently and some kids just cannot do it on a computer,” Mann said.

Mann converted the trunk of her SUV into a pop-up classroom for Cody.

“He was really involved, there was a smile on his face. He wasn't complaining about the work,” Mann said.

Cody's mom, Meg Roberts, says she sees the difference too.

“He went from shutting down and doing nothing to doing it,” Meg said.

Online learning will continue after Governor Andrew Cuomo announced schools would remain closed for the rest of the school year.

“All teachers are really trying to figure out what to do to be able to reach all of their students. I mean, I can see them in their driveways and things like that, but it's just not the same as being in the classroom with them,” Mann said.

Until then, Mann says she will do her best to add a sense of normalcy to her student's life.
