Governor Cuomo and state health officials are urging people to stop vaping. Forty-one people in New York have gotten sick, and eight people nationwide have died.

The Department of Health is starting an investigation into the companies that make vaping substances to find out what's in them.

One possible cause that could be leading to health issues is the substance Vitamin E Acetate, which has been found in products purchased from the black market.

Beyond that, Cuomo says he wants shops to put up a warning for consumers and is considering a ban on flavored e-cigarettes.

"Common sense says if you don't know what you are smoking, don't smoke it, and right now, we don't know what you are smoking in a lot of these vaping products, etc.," said Cuomo.

The DOH joined Cuomo at the press conference, reminding people to be cautious. They say symptoms include shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, and chest pain.
