Fashion at the Saratoga race track is legendary; which is why NYRA is celebrating each Saturday with "Fashion Saturdays." It's a chance for local businesses to get exposure and help people find their favorite track outfits and accessories.

On any given day, there is no shortage of stylish attire at the track.

“You see a lot of women walking around in dresses, sundresses, their hats,” said Kelly Kenyon, a LulaRoe consultant.

And the guys get gussied up too. One brand who knows what fashion means to the racing community, more than most? Embrace the Race. The brand has a flagship in downtown Saratoga Springs.

“We're literally racing's brand, founded and based right here in Saratoga,” said Founder and CEO Mike DeAnzeris.

While the company is the official brand for horse racing, the racing lifestyle, and is a perfect fit for “Fashion Saturdays,” DeAnzeris says its name has taken on a deeper meaning.

“We see people from well beyond the Capital Region that come to the track and really have a deep emotional connection with not only the race itself but what it signifies,” DeAnzeris said.

For other businesses, the weekly event is a chance to get exposure to those who may not make it to downtown storefronts.

“Definitely being here allows people to learn more about it and get more attention,” said Nathalie Chateauneuf of Miss Scarlett Boutique — which also has a pop-up shop in the lower level of the clubhouse and a location off Broadway on Phila St.

And it also lends opportunity to those who've never heard about the brands.

“There's no storefronts, so we get our business out there by telling people about it. Having us be there in front of all these people is great exposure,” Kenyon said.

“Fashion Saturdays" is going on every Saturday this season at the Coca Cola Pavilion from 11 a.m. 5 p.m. There are lots of great local businesses there to shop with many unique pieces.

A very fashionable week at the track is ahead — and you can definitely spot some show-stopping fashion on Saturday, Aug. 24 — for the 150th anniversary of the running of the Travers.
