In Albany, the Center for Law and Justice is taking a closer look at the relationship between residents and police in a report released Wednesday.

According to a summary of the report, there's a lack of trust between the community and the agencies responsible for keeping it safe.

Residents of color report strong feelings of mistrust with the Albany Police Department and the District Attorney's office.

They also highlighted three specific themes: misconduct, racism, and police conduct in both the First Street assault case and the police shooting of Ellazar Williams.

The Center says the survey — which included roughly 300 questionnaires sent out to the community — was not meant to lay blame, but to help bring the community together.
