Albany residents will have the chance to ask questions about the potential use of the police department's new drone technology at a meeting Tuesday night.

The Albany Community Policing Advisory Committee is hosting a drone presentation.

Since the program was announced, questions and concerns have emerged over possible civil rights violations and invasion of privacy.

Police Chief Eric Hawkins said the drones will be deployed to help protect officers and increase range during missing persons searches, with six Albany officers training to use them.

Tuesday’s ACPAC Drone forum is at the AOH at 375 Ontario Street from 6 to 8 p.m.
