An arrest has been made in last week's homicide in Amsterdam.
Police say Michael Cable, 37, was attacked inside his Lefferts Street home last Wednesday night. He made it out onto the street as he attempted to get help before succumbing to his injuries.
Police, in a press conference Wednesday morning, say they have arrested Nicholas Smith, 20. He's charged with murder and manslaughter. We're told he was found at a home in Albany.
Surveillance cameras led Amsterdam Police to Albany to track down Smith.
"It gave us really something to go on," said Amsterdam Detective Joseph Spencer. "And from that moment on, it was about corroborating what we could find out what we could about this person."
No motive has been announced, and there were no witnesses.
"We don’t want to lock ourselves into a box stating exactly what the motive was, so we can say there was no danger to anyone else," Spencer said.
