After 70 years of marriage, Joan and George Fontaine have shared a lot together.

"She's done more for me than anyone I've ever known," George said.

The two have six children together and a home in Saratoga in Waterford.

One of their greatest symbols of love, their wedding rings, they purchased together. Joan says it was heartbreaking to know she would be without her wedding ring just before their anniversary.

"I could shed some tears right now because in that 70 years we never took it off," Joan said.

Joan noticed it was missing during her grocery run at Troy's Price Chopper.

"In the middle of the third aisle I realized I didn't have it," Joan said.

"They may have been in the produce department," said Edward Gendron, Price Chopper store manager.

Joan says she looked top to bottom to no avail, though store managers say they will keep the search party going.

"We hope they find it and this turns out to be a good news story," Gendron said.

But for the couple, the real good news is they get to share their lives with each other.

"It wasn't the ring that made the 70 years, it was both of us together," Joan said.

"And I love her besides that," George said.
