A coach and youth mentor whose sudden death shocked the community was honored Friday night in Glens Falls.

Adam Lanoir died of a heart attack in October. It happened while he was playing hockey, the sport he loved.

Lanoir's family was presented with his framed #24 jersey. The jersey was also retired by the Adirondack Rivermen, Lanoir's high school team. The Rivermen were the Indians in the 90s when Lanoir helped them win a state title.

He eventually became a coach and confidant, who so many people, young and old, came to rely on.

"Maybe it was a parent talking about their kid. he always had that extra time to talk to somebody to give them some advice or maybe just a piece of his mind," said Dylan Pasco.

Lanoir was 42.
