Whether you were shoveling, plowing or snow blowing in Troy this afternoon, one thing was for certain, and that was everybody was working hard to clean it up.

The weekend storm dropped more than a foot of snow in some areas. Some residents say by Troy not declaring this a snow emergency, it made things even harder.

One Troy homeowner pulled out the heavy duty equipment to tackle the mounds of snow. He worries that the city won't be able to efficiently clear away roads.

"It's a safety issue,” the homeowner said. “I lived in Albany years ago and we always had it there; it would be good, especially on a major road like this."

Residents expected to move the snow piled up after city plows make their way through the streets.

The city is extending help to those who can't find overnight parking by granting access to all city-owned garages. Until then, residents are taking the cleanup process in stride.

The city of Troy says the parking will be free until Tuesday morning. For a complete list of garages, log on to troyny.gov.
