New Thursday from the Town of Glenville Police Department is that a Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Central Schools substitute bus minotor has been arrested on four misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

This after an incident where the monitor, John F. Jankowy, 73, of Glenville, New York, made a worrisome statement to children.

Glenville Police Chief Stephen Janik tells Spectrum News Jankowy was cooperative with police. They believe his statement was made out of frustration

"The investigation started when the Burnt Hills Ballston Lake School District contacted the Glenville Police about an incident on one of their buses, transporting children from Pashley Elementary School. During the incident, Jankowy made statements to juvenile children which spoke of violent acts. It is not believed that Jankowy poses any threat at this time," Janik said in a press release.

Jankowy was arraigned in front of Judge Jen Mcphail and released "on his own recognizance," Janik says. Jankowy is expected in Town Court on January 29, 2019.

The Superintendent of Schools Patrick McGrath sent a letter to parents in response to the arrest. The letter is below:

"Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are reaching out to let you know of an incident that occurred this morning on a Pashley Elementary School bus (Triangle Bus). A substitute bus monitor made a comment that was violent in nature and directed to a group of students seated toward the back of the bus. The district’s School Resource Officer, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Deputy Zach Cicardi, investigated the situation and the threat was deemed not credible. Regardless, we have zero tolerance for threats of violence, and as such, the substitute bus monitor was immediately terminated and removed permanently from the BH-BL substitute hiring list. The ncident has also been reported to the Glenville Police Department where it is currently undergoing investigation.

We’d like to remind parents that we work diligently to maintain a safe environment for our students, in our buildings and on our buses. Every school day our security protocols are strictly enforced and we ensure that our safety procedures are being closely followed. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at 518-399-9141, ext. 85002."
