The first ever women’s empowerment conference was underway at the Empire State Plaza. The event’s co-founder says the conference is an extension of 2018's Women’s March.

The conference, broken down into three parts, began with several speakers discussing themes like women’s rights, racial justice, and gender equality.

Saturday’s Women’s Empowerment Conference featured a variety of workshops, breaking down those themes even further.

“The hope is they feel a little bit more connected to people in their community and that they're inspired to take some sort of action,” said Women's Empowerment Conference Co-Founder Castina Charles.

At the event was also Spectrum News anchor Jodee Kenney, who was the MC.
