Albany Police have arrested a man in connection with the attempted abduction on December 5 on Robin Street.

They say 32-year-old Harry Bonilla is accused of approaching a 16-year-old girl near Robin Street and Sheridan Avenue, grabbing her wrist and trying to pull her into his vehicle. The teen broke free suffering a cut to her mouth, and then called police.

Bonilla is charged with attempted kidnapping, assault, sex abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held without bail.

Last Tuesday evening, officers responded to the 400 block of Sheridan after a report that a man tried to force a teen into his vehicle. The 16-year-old told officers she was walking on Central Ave., when a man approached her and tried to talk with her.

When she walked away from him she says the man grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward his SUV. She said she was able to break free and get help.

"Let me be clear, this girl did exactly what she was supposed to do. She got away from this male and immediately notified police," said a member of the Albany Police Department.

The suspect was described as a man in his twenties.
